Gilded Age


The Gilded Age is the era where industry prospered and began to substantially grow.The captains of industry provided many jobs and their companies which help stimulate the economy at the time. The businessmen of the Gilded Age created industrial towns and cities in the Northeast with new factories and contributed to the creation of ethnically diverse industrial working classes which produced the wealth owned by rising super-rich industrialists and financiers. Some captains of industry during the Gilded Age are still famous recognized name today. Including Samuel Gompers, John D. Rockefeller, and Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt and J.P. Morgan. The captains of industry were heavily judged and criticized at their time and soon became known as "robber barons". The term derived from their misuse of power and the manipulation of unethical finances.
